Exhibits

In the museum you will find several permanent exhibitions such as the production in which the composer Franz Schubert lived during the period of his famous compositions, coin collections, prehistory and ancient archaeological finds to records of the history of the town of Želiezovce.

About us

By the entrance to the museum stands the big, ceramic fireplace that was part of the castle’s furniture. This is evidenced by the original aquarelle hanging on the wall, and also the black and white photography of the period from the beginning of the 20th century. On this, the countess Ernestína Breunner by herself is immortalized besides the same fireplace. Besides, a piece of the fireplace from the room in which Franz Schubert lived is placed…
The second (entrance) hall captures the life in the Esterházy castle of Zeliezovce, and various items that they used: children toys, handmade globe, books, inkpots, and many other items of daily necessities.  The wall documents witness about Franz Sacher – the inventor of the world-known cake, who was brought to Zeliezovce by the count Ján Karol Esterházy; about the Zeliezovce native and bischop of Kosice Augustín Fischer-Colbriem, who consecrated Joseph Tiso to priest; about the origin and the history of the castle, but also about the ruined castle, or the habitable oak-tree that do not exist anymore…
